Wet Milling Attritor Batch Type

MIKRONS® production model - wet milling- batch attritors are highly efficient, durable and versatile easy to maintain grinding mills suitable for grinding highly viscous material such as latex, chocolate, nut, paste, paint, tungsten carbide etc.

Attritors can be used to meet the requirements of even the most stringent applications such as the electronic industry. For this application, attritors are available with metal-free teflon/tungsten carbide coating systems to assure a contamination-free environment.

The main advantage of a batch mill is that the material can be inspected any time during the grinding cycle. Therefore, adjustments or formulation additions can be accomplished without stopping the machine. 
A recirculation pump will be provided for discharging the end product from grinding chamber. This aids in accelerated and uniform attrition activity. A worm gear assembly attached to the tank allows the tank to be tilted. In this position, the shaft and arms can be easily removed and/or inspected and the grinding media changed, if necessary.

The tank has a ball discharge valve and media discharge chute at the bottom for easy removal of media. A water-cooled cover with a floating teflon seal minimizes solvent loss.
Our Batch- attritors are designated as "S" (Standard). Batch Attritors range in size from a 100 liters gross tank capacity to a 2000 liters gross tank capacity.

 
Optional 
Our Attritors can be used for milling hardest material such as tungsten carbide. These models are equipped with higher horse power. In addition the arms are provided with TC sleeve to reduce wear.

Wet Milling Attritor Continuous Type

MIKRONS Continuous attritors are best suited for the continuous production and fast grinding of large quantities of material. They are designed to deliver hours of low-cost, maintenance-free operation. 

Continuous attritors come in two basic types, "Slow Speed" and "High Speed" series. The "slow speed series" runs at lower RPMs and generally uses a larger grinding media of 5mm - 10mm diameter. The "High Speed" series runs at higher RPMs and utilizes smaller media of 1mm - 3mm.

Dry Grinding Attritor

MIKRONS® Dry grinding attritors features a unique design that includes a new shaft configuration and side discharge screen wherein smaller size grinding media is used and made to agitate at higher speeds, generating a large quantity of micron sized products continuously.

The shaft RPM of this series ranges from 600 to 1400.

Dry Grinding Attritors provide fast, efficient dry grinding, resulting in extremely fine material measured in microns.

 
  • All models equipped with ammeter.
  • When metal contamination must be eliminated, tank liners and arm sleeves of various ceramics can be applied.
  • Cover seals can be provided for conditions where dust control is desired, or where grinding must be done under a closed system.
  • Torque meter is available including torque and speed read-out.

Continuous Dry milling attritor
Dry Grinding Attritors can be operated in both continuous and batch processing applications. In the continuous operation, the material is fed into the vessel at the top. It then migrates through the agitating media bed where it is processed to a desired particle size and is discharged through metering bar grids at the bottom of the tank.
 
Batch Dry milling attritor
In the batch mode, material is charged into the mill at the top, ground for a predetermined time, and then discharged through grids at the bottom. The system can easily be sealed for grinding under inert gases such as nitrogen or argon.

Recirculation Attritor

The re-circulation attritors are supplied with large holding tanks. The Attritor is filled with media and the discharge grids restrain the media while the material is allowed to pass through.

 

The principle of this series is the high circulation pumping rate which forces the entire contents of the holding tank to pass through the attritor several times per hour.

This results in a faster grind and a narrower particle size distribution. In this circulation process, the material passes through the grinding chamber multiple times until the desired particle size is obtained.

Laboratory Attritor

MIKRONS® Lab Attritor has been designed to allow easy removal of the grinding chamber from the mill. The motor is controlled vide a variable frequency drive controller.

The MIKRONS® Lab model Attritors are versatile, reliable laboratory machine designed to meet all the lab grinding needs. These are ideal for small scale formulations, feasibility studies and quality control studies.

Users of MIKRONS® Lab Attritors can choose wet or dry grinding, vary grinding speed, change media size all in one. All MIKRONS® Attritors come with TEFC or explosion proof Electricals and can be equipped with a variety of accessories to expand its versatility

Attritors are best specified when the starting particle size is between 325 mesh up to 1/4". For starting particle size of 1/4" or larger, a laboratory ball mill is probably the most appropriate choice. For starting particle sizes less than 325 mesh, one should consider a laboratory small media mill such as the laboratory bead Mill

 

In addition, lab Attritors offer other advantages including better temperature control, the ability to grind under inert gases as well as liquid nitrogen.
